Some tourists had really fun and made cheating pics (the guy is on his knees!) the mood in general was good - rain means positive things to us, like drinking water and food for the animals ... the mess is cleanable!

Einige Touris hatten fun und machten ein paar Schummelbilder (er ist auf seinen Knien!), die Stimmung im generellen war gut, denn Regen bedeutet gute Dinge... die Brunnen sind wieder aufgefuellt und die Tiere haben zu essen.... mit der entstanden Sauerrei werden wir dann schon fertig...

... es haette schlimmer sein koennen, aber es gibt einen Staudamm, der Naama Bay schuetzt - dort gab es zum ersten Mal seit 9 Jahren wieder Wasser.

Today we have sun again and things start to dry up - we are getting back to normal, telephones, internet and everything works again... there is some big damage in the airport and on the streets, that will take time to be fixed.

Heute haben wir wieder Sonne und die Normalitaet kehrt wieder ein. Strom ist wieder da, Handys und Internet funktioniert wieder zumeist ... ueberall haegt alles draussen zum trocknen. ... es gibt aber auch einige groessere Schaeden, zB am Flughafen und an den Strassen, dass wird wohl noch eine Weile brauchen bis alles wieder repariert ist.

Ich hoffe mein kleiner Enblick von unserem gestrigen Tag hat euch gefallen und wuensche Euch einen schoenen Tag.

Heavy Rain over Sinai

Yesterday, we had heavy rain and floods here in Sharm. That meant for 24 h no electricity, no phones and mobiles, no Internet - back to the roots LOL. I am so glad, that stamping can be done without all of that!!! LOL Here some impression of what happened.

Gestern gab es schwere Regen hier in Sharm, ein Regen, wie er nur alle 9 Jahre einmal kommt und das bedeutete dann, fuer 24h kein Strom, kein Telefon und Handy und kein Internet!! Ein Glueck braucht man zum Stempeln nix von alledem LOL

Hier ein paar Eindruecke vom Unwetter.

Thunderstorms and heavy rain all night long - in der Nacht Gewitter von allen Seiten und heftige Regenfaelle:

The morning after, in front of our house and everywhere, water puddles and the shops who have usually boxes of watterbottles in front of them, are left with a mess, still the little village where I live was in good shape. I am glad we followed the advise of the Bedouins(natives) and got our land on the foot of a little mountain, but still high enough, which makes it save to live there.

Der Morgen danach, vor unserem Haus und ueberall, kleine Baeche und grosse Pfuetzen Wasser, die Geschaefte die normalerweise vor sich Wasserkisten gestapelt haben, fanden nur noch ein Berg mit Sauerrei. Trot alledem ist das kleine Dorf in dem ich lebe gut davon gekommen. Ich bin froh, dass wir dem Rat der Beduinen gefolgt sind und unser Land am Fusse von diesem kleinem Berg gekauft haben. Hier sind wir hoch genug und waren noch geschuetzt, das Wasser floss nach weiter unten ab:

Hataba, this child had good time with the mess - it was so cute! The cars did not find it so funny and the bike man made the right deceision to ride on the side walk.

Hataba, dieses Kind hat Freude am Wasser - die Autofahrer fanden es nicht so klasse und der Motoradfahrer hat sicher die richtige Entscheidung getroffen auf dem erhoehten Mittelstueck zu fahren....

A little wrapping..

Nothing big for today, just a little idea... I have usually a problem to get nice wrapping paper over here. Recently I saw an idea on the web (and can't tell where it was*oops*) to stamp direct on those paper bags. In Germany we call them breakfast bags and then add a nice ribbon to wrapp it up - done ...this was done so fast and is such an inexpensive solution... saves some money for new stamps, hehe.

Nix Grosses fuer heute, nur eine kleine Einpackidee, da ich hier immer ein Problem habe an schoenes Geschenkpapier zu kommen. Ich hab das schonmal wo im Net gesehen, weiss aber nicht mehr wo - jedenfalls wurde hier direkt auf Fruehstueckstueten gestempelt, dann noch ein schoenes Band dazu binden und FERTIG.... eine einfach und guenstige Loesung ... spart ein wenig Geld, dass man doch lieber in neue Stempel investiert, hehe....

SI - Hochstaplerblumen

For the SI at Stempelhuehnerhof we want to make our own embellishment, out of sraps. The idea came from Dawn and MishMash as well as Dani to use sraps and punch out different shapes, pile them on top of each other and make this way something new out of it. Easy Peasy!

Since I did not have an old book or so, I stamped a nice quote from PTI beside each other, just on copy paper and cut scalloped circels out with Spellbinders. Then I took the heart of LeLo Design, stamped it with white Ink, cut it out and fixed it alltogether with a button on top. The flowers were crimped up a bit and sponged with Distress Ink Vinage Photo. I love the quotes from Waltzingmouse(left side), they are so versatile and of course I had to use again some of the new velvet and lace.

Fuer das SI im Stempelhuehnerhof heisst es heute hochstapeln. Gemeint ist, dass wir aus Scraps und Papierresten Formen ausstanzen, aufeinanderstapeln und so ein neues Embelli kreieren . Eigentlich ganz einfach und doch sehr effektvoll!

Gesehen hatte ich diese Idee bei Dawn ,MishMash und Dani dort koennt ihr euch tolle Ideen holen.

Da ich kein altes Buch zur Hand hatte, hab ich kurzerhand einen Spruch von PTI auf Kopierpapier gestempelt, mit den Spellis ausgestanzt und dann mit dem Herz von Lelo Design und einem Knopf festgenaeht. Das Ganze wurde noch mit etwas Distress Vintage Photo gewischt und dann schoen verknuellt. Klaro musste ich von der neuen Spitze und dem Samtband etwas verwenden, das schaut soooo schoen aus! Der Spruch links ist aus einem Waltzingmouse Set.

Ich hoffe es inpiriert euch ein wenig und ihr habt Lust mitzumachen - wuensche euch noch einen tollen Tag und ein wunderschoenes Wochenende und bis bald wieder.

Rather a fight...

... with my sewing machine and the Copic markers was this card. I wanted to try the brick wall technique since it was the challenge at Stempelhuehnerhof this week. The sewing machine lost the thread all the time and so many unnecessary holes were created *dooh* and the Copic bled into the sponged brick wall and made a caterpillar out of the ladybird!

The hedgehog is a stamp from Penny Black, the flowers on the bricks and the ruined ladybug from LELO Design and the birds from Stamping Duck.

*sight* ... hope today is a better day... must be, cause it is weekend here already.... have a great day, you weekend is close as well!

Diese Karte war ein ziemlicher Kampf mit meine Naehmaschine und den Copic Markern gegen mich. Ich wollte den Mauerbau ausprobieren, der gerade im SI die Wochenherausforderung ist, aber irgendwie hat meine Naehmaschine Probleme gemacht und der Faden ging dauernd raus und hat sich verheddert und ich hab jede Menge Loecher in die Karte gemacht, die nicht sein sollten *rotwerd*.... und zum Schluss haben die Copics aus dem Marienkaefer einen Tausendfuessler gemacht, als ich auf dem bereits gewischten Papier gemalt habe...*augen roll* gut, das weiss ich dann jetzt auch!

Der Igel ist ein PB Stempel, die Blumen an der Mauer und der Marienkaefer von LELO Design und die Voegel von Stamping Duck.

*seufz* ich hoffe heute wird es besserer Tag .... zumal hier das Wochenende bereits angefangen hat.... auch Euer Wochenende ist bald da....wuensche euch einen schoenen Tag.

It' a Girl !!

I needed to make a card for a new baby and always, when I come to baby cards, I come back to this Penny Black image, one of my very first stamps and still my first choice for baby cards.
This time I deceided, to make a pocket card for a change, haven't done that for a long time. Also you can see the first buttons that I got in Cairo... and MANY more to come soon!!! ... I got also that gorgeous velvet ribbon... the color is soooo beautiful, a deep red with a touch of blackish... I could not resist, although the deal was only available for 91m!!!! I know, I know a lot of ribbon, but it was too good to let it go ... and I thought it is Valentine soon, as well as this baby card... I will find use for it! In the detail photos you can find also some Velevet in form of a bow with a button on top.
Another thing my SIL and I found was lace... this one is just perfect for cards... and no, Iwill not tell you now the amout I had to take from this one *blush*.... but isn't it gorgous as well!!

Ich brauchte eine Babykarte und wie immer wenn es zu Babykarten kommt, ist dieses Image von Penny Black meine erste Wahl. Der Stempel ist einer meiner ersten und ich lieb ihn immer noch.

Dieses Mal wollte ich mal wieder eine Pocket Card machen, das hab ich schon lange nicht mehr gemacht und habe dann auch gleich mein, in Kairo neu erstandenes Samtband benutzt. Das Rot ist sooooooo schoen, ein tiefes Rot, mit einem touch von schwarz drinn, ich kam einfach nicht umhin es zu kaufen.... obwohl ich gleich 91m !!!! abnehmen musste. Ich weiss, ich weiss, das ist eine Menge Band, aber Valentin kommt ja und fuer Babys gehts auch super wie ihr seht, ich bin eh ein Rotfan und werds wohl ueberall drumwickeln in der naechsten Zeit ;) ... auch die Knoepfe sind aus der neuen Kollektion, den Rest zeig ich euch auch bald.

Auch die Spitze ist von meinem Kairoer Marktag, diese hier find ich ideal fuer Karten! Meine Schwaegerin und ich haben auch hier extrem zugeschlagen *rot werd* und nein, diesmal sag ich euch nicht, was die Mindestabnahme war....

In den Nahaufnahmen koennt ihr alles schoen sehen, das Samtband hab ich dann zusammen mit einem Knopf noch zu einer Schleife verarbeitet.

Ich hoffe nun mal, dass die Karte den Eltern gefaellt und wuensch euch einen schoenen Tag.

Something different...

Thanks to Swaantje, who supplied me with instructions and help I could finally (nearly-still you see all the threads that I have to take care) finish this project. My husband wanted for his birthday handmade socks - and I succeeded! Well they are not perfect but if I look at the German weather in the moment, I think he will need them when we have to go to the Boot Show soon.

Mit grossem Dank an Swaantje, die mich mit Info uebers Socken stricken versorgt hat, habe ich dieses Projekt jetzt auch beinahe fertig - beinahe, noch muessen all diese Faeden vernaeht werden *augen roll*. Mein Mann hatte sich selbstgestrickte Socken zum Geburtstag gewuenscht. Sie sind nicht perfekt, aber ich glaube im Hinblick auf das momentane deutsche Wetter kann er die auch gut brauchen, wenn er zur Boot Show soll!!!

New SI

The new SI at Stempelhuehnerhof is a technique - to make a 'brick wall'. A workshop can be seen at SCS - HERE.
Because I am still out of order and stuck in Cairo, the sample was made by Kalli. It was also her, who suggested this interesting technique and I think it is well worth to look at her card HERE.

Thank you and ... you need buttons??

Thanks for all the well wishes, it feels so good, when people are thinking of you when you are not feeling so well.

My dentist issue is unfortunately not so good, it developed in a root canal infection which means, that I will have to stay in Cairo for more days :-(. While I was rioting, complaining and mouning yesterday, I started to accept it today .... and find the positive side of it. Cairo in small doses can be wonderful. I will try to go to the cinema, something that we do not have in Sharm and ... I will try to persuade my sister in law to make with me another button tour in the local market!!!! ... So if you are interested in buttons, let me know, because I will have to travel to Germany at the end of the month and could pass the buttons easily on by mail. I will try to make a spring collection, with bright colours, rather small buttons and flower buttons.... but as always, I have to see what will be available first....please leave me a comment if you are interessted.

Vielen Dank fuer Eure lieben Kommentare zu meinem Zahnproblem. Leider hat sich herausgestellt, dass es sich zu einer Wurzelentzuendung entwickelt hat und ich wohl einige Zeit wegen der Behandlung inKairo bleiben muss :-(

Nachdem ich gestern erstmal sauer auf alles, jedes und jeden war, habe ich mich heute mit meiner Situation abgefunden und versuche das Beste drauss zu machen. Kairo in kleinen Dosen kann eigentlich schoen sein, auch wenn das timing jetzt gerade nicht so toll ist. Werde wohl versuchen ins Kino zu gehen, etwas, was es in Sharm nicht gibt ..... und ausserdem bin ich dabei meine Schwaegerin davon zu ueberzeugen, dass sie mit mir nochmal Knoepfe kaufen gehen soll. Meldet euch hier, falls ihr Interesse habt.... ich werde diesmal versuchen eine Fruehlingskollektion zusammen zu stellen, frische Farben, Bluemchenknoepfe und ehr kleine Knoepfe,....aber wie immer muss ich erst mal schauen was es gerade so gibt! ... da ich ja Ende des Monats isa nach Deutschland kommen soll, ist das Verschicken kein Problem..... also lasst mich wissen ob ueberhaupt Interesse besteht.

It is still Christmas...

It is still Christmas - most of the people do not know that, but here in Egypt the Coptic Christians (as well as all the Russian-Orthodox) have their Christmas on the 7th of January. So these cards are for this event, going to some friends. As usual it was a last minute order and had to be fast, so it is CAS, but I like the outcome.

The BG is a CB Folder and the stamp with the kings is from Flamingo Arts, the quote from Stamping Duck.

Es ist immer noch Weihnachten - viele wissen das nicht, aber unsere aegyptischen koptischen Christen (wie auch alle russisch-orthodoxen) haben Weihnachten am 7.Januar. Diese Karten wurden dafuer gemacht und da es mal wieder schnell gehen musste, wurden sie CAS, aber ich finde sie schoen so.

Der HG wurde gecuttled und der Stempel mit den hl 3 Koenigen ist von Flamingo Arts, die Schrift von Stamping Duck.

Da ich leider ein Zahnprobleme habe, wird es hier ein wenig still werden, denn ich muss nach Kairo. Hoffe es dauert nicht zu lange... bis (hoffenlich) bald wieder, wuensch euch noch einen schoenen Tag.

SI - Essen und Trinken

'Eating and Drinking' is the new challenge at Stempelhuehnerhof. After we have done it to extreeeeeeemes in the last days and weeks, we want to reverse it and only do in on the paper!!! I gained 4 kg from the Germany trip *deep sight* and fighting a huge fight now to get it down again - gram by gram *deep sight again*

This is another birthday card for a friend of mine, that loves blue and green and tea.... so I pulled out the PTI Set and stamped the bg with a stamp from Stamping Duck. The layer from the CB folder was 'real' sewed.

Hope she and you will like the card and would love to hear your comment ... my Mojo is somehow not really around me these days...

Die neue Herausforderung auf dem Stempelhuehnerhof heisst 'Essen und Trinken' - etwas, das wir alle in den letzen Tagen und Wochen zuviel gemacht haben und es deshalb etwas auf das Papier verlegen wollen. Ich habe in Deutschland 4 kg zugenommen *seufz* ... und habe nun einen Elendskampf es Gramm um Gramm wieder loszuwerden *nochmals tief seufze*

Dies ist wieder eine Geburtstagskarte, diesmal fuer eine Freundin, die sowohl gruen/blau mag, als auch Tee. Deshalb hab ich das PTI -Tee Set rausgezogen und mit einem HG Stempel von Stamping Duck kombiniert. Irgendwie ist meine Muse nicht so richtig zugegen, das haben auch die echten Naehte und das hochsetzen der Teekanne auf 3D Pads nicht wett gemacht. Ich hoffe, das Geburtstagskind mag die Karte trotzdem.... was meint ihr denn??
